The Golden Rules of Cigar Smoking

We saw this graphic the other day and thought it was appropriate to post here so that you could read it and take note of it. There are no rules specifically to cigar smoking but these are good suggestions and so many are first starting out with cigars they don’t know the basics and we’re more than happy to show you the basics based on our experience and the experience of our customers who have more experience than we do.

These are a good general rule of thumb. Feel free to add your thoughts in the comments section.

1 – We recommend a torch lighter as it makes lighting a cigar more even.

2 – We are becoming more and more a fan of “v-cutters” as the cap on cigars seem to be getting smaller.

3 – After lighting and you have a good white hot burn, we recommend taking a puff (NOT inhaling) every 45-60 seconds. You just want the cigar to be lit, not hot.

4 – We do NOT recommend “re-smoking” a cigar. Better to just let it go out then saving it for another day.

5 – EVERYONE has different opinions about any cigar. It’s less about “what you might taste” and all about “what I liked about that cigar”. We can give the same cigar to five different persons and get five different opinions of what that cigar was like. NONE are “right” it’s all about your palate.
